Vijay Venkatesan is Vice President, Chief Analytics Officer at Horizon BCBSNJ, the state’s largest health insurer covering 3.8 million members. In this role, Mr. Venkatesan is responsible for overseeing the next-generation data and analytics strategy in support of business operations and diversification strategies as we advance our health care transformation. Prior to joining Horizon BCBSNJ, Mr. Venkatesan served as the Chief Data Officer for Providence St. Joseph Health, where he was responsible for driving a progressive data and analytics strategy that included the organization’s transition to the Cloud and AI. He created a data market place for self-service data and mobile platforms for enabling intelligence based actions in support of the organizational mission and strategy. Mr. Venkatesan also served as Vice President of Enterprise Data Management for Sutter Health. Under his leadership, Sutter Health made great strides advancing its capabilities around data, reporting and analytics. He was instrumental in advancing several regional and system wide strategic priorities in support of the shared savings program, advanced illness management, EMR reporting and other quality-related initiatives. Vijay also served as Vice President of analytics and business intelligence for Sutter’s Physician Services. Before joining Sutter, he was VP of Management Information and Analysis with Kaiser Permanente for four years. While there, Mr. Venkatesan helped lead Kaiser Permanente’s data and analytics transformation.
